After winning a scholarship to attend and study at Musashino Art University in Tokyo, the possibilities within language and mistranslation became a catalyst for my practice. Socially rooted and motivated, abducting subject matter from classical literature, found narrative and popular culture; my practice toys with truth, pace and order. After graduation I co-founded and co-directed Backlit Gallery and Studios in Nottingham. My role as curator of exhibitions at Backlit taught me the importance of dialogue, discussion and collaboration. I have been involved in exhibitions nationally and internationally however this is my first residency, I have found it a very inspirational, informative and focused period.
